Business Development Manager


Winsight is a leading B2B information services company focused on the food and beverage industry, providing insight and market intelligence to business leaders in every channel consumers buy food and beverage – convenience stores, grocery retailing, restaurants and noncommercial foodservice – through media, events, data products, advisory services, and trade shows.

Position Objective

Winsight is seeking a Business Development Manager to extend our reach through expert discovery and exploration of new and untapped business opportunities. Covering all 4 Winsight brands, the BDM will find new sales opportunities from our audience for digital, conferences, and meetings. We offer the opportunity to work with senior executives in driving their company’s growth and profitability.

Position Responsibilities

Our company is looking for a talented and experienced Business Development Manager. We need a self-motivated individual with proven experience and an outstanding track record in developing new business. The ideal candidate will have a track record of exceeding sales targets and strong prospecting and closing skills. Candidates must be extremely comfortable prospecting and developing sales via the telephone.

Responsibilities include –

  • Conducting lead generation, prospecting, and sourcing high-potential leads within assigned territories
  • Proactively scheduling calls with prospective clients via phone and email (including cold calling)
  • Researching prospective or current clients to identify new sales opportunities, customize communications strategies, and ensure prospects understand the value of our extensive products and services
  • Meeting quarterly and yearly quotas as determined by senior management
  • Building long lasting relationships with clients
  • Providing senior management with progress reports
  • Representing the company at client meetings, presentations, and industry events.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

The ideal candidate will have a track record of identifying new customers and exceeding sales targets. Self-starter with strong relationship management and consultative selling skills are a must. Understanding of B2B media (digital, events, content marketing, magazines) is preferred.

  • Minimum 2-4 years sales experience
  • Experience in the foodservice and retail sectors is preferred
  • Telephone sales and development skills a must, used to making 50+ call s a day
  • Must have a courteous and professional phone manner and exceptional conversational skills
  • Proven track record of developing leads with timely deal closings
  • Highly professional with excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work within deadlines in a calm and efficient manner
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office software
  • Utilizes CRM for all conversations, opportunities and metrics
